The home's beginnings The home was built by Alexander McKnight Bracken and
Rosemary Ball Bracken, both members of prominent Muncie
families. The two were married in 1932 and made their first
home in Muncie's Westwood Addition. The quiet neighborhood
with winding streets was located immediately north of Ball
State Teachers College in what was then the extreme northwest
edge of Muncie. In late 1935, the Brackens purchased eight
lots and some additional footage in the neighborhood for
approximately $18,500. This completed the 2-acre site that
would become their home at 10 Berwyn Road.
