A gift to Ball State
Bracken House was built in 1937 by a young couple for their growing family. For 60 years activity abounded. The couple’s five children staged plays in the basement and sneaked slides down the banister. Holiday and birthday parties attracted friends and family. Numerous civic club meetings and house and garden tours attracted more guests. Over the years the home was a key gathering place and its Georgian-styling was a cornerstone of its neighborhood, now on the National Register of Historic Places.

In their will, the couple generously donated the home to Ball State University to be used as the president’s home. Please join us on a tour of the recently refurbished dwelling, also used for many university functions.
