Detailed information on the planning stages, design, history and renovations of the home are available in Thomas A. Sargent's, Bracken House: A History, (Ball State University, 2000). Sargent is professor emeritus of political science and director emeritus of the E.B. and Bertha C. Ball Center for University and Community Programs at Ball State. He also is author of The House and Its History (Ball State University, 1989), which describes the E.B. Ball house on Minnetrista Boulevard in Muncie, Ind.
