Mission The Student Technology Center (STC) at Ball State University is a student support unit of the University College. STC's mission is to:
· Promote the understanding of technology's role in the academic achievement of Ball State University students.
· Facilitate as an intermediary between the technological needs of Ball State University students and the computer applications that will help them accomplish their academic goals.
· Provide a nurturing environment for students to grow as users of technology.
· Forge a concrete partnership with other campus resource centers that help students understand the use of software applications.
· Advocate the use of technology in instruction and learning when applicable.
Commitment
Through a partnership between the Teaching, Learning, & Academic Technology and University College, the Student Technology Center (STC) will be committed to the responsible use of technology in instruction and learning. The Student Technology Center will offer students peer tutoring and coaching for software applications supported at present, and in the future, by The Center for Teaching Technology and University Computing Services. STC will initially offer academic support for Microsoft products, Blackboard use, Internet browsing skills, Web page production applications, and SPSS statistical analysis software. Facilitating tutoring that addresses the unique learning needs of Ball State University students, STC will remain a student focused learning resource center that relies on peer interaction for software assistance and application.
