Raised Beds
These garden
beds actually raise the growing area above the non-growing areas of the
garden. These types of beds are typically enclosed by a short border
(6-12”) of wood or cement blocks to contain the soil, but still allow
for easy access for working.
Raised beds
provide many benefits such as:
* No soil compaction
* Concentrates healthy, composted soil & water
* Better water drainage
* Conserves moisture and preserves microclimate
* Zero to little digging
