Request Confirmation Certain LISTSERV operations require that you confirm the request so that LISTSERV can be sure you are the person that submitted the request. The request might be for a list subscription, a LISTSERV password or some other operation. In any of these situations, your response will be the same. To confirm the request, bring up your e-mail software. If you use several different e-mail accounts, it is important that you use the one that you used to submit the request. You should find a message (fig. 1) from LISTSERV in your e-mail inbox. The message usually arrives very quickly but don’t get startled if it takes few minutes.
Figure 1 There are two ways to confirm your request; by e-mail reply or by web hyperlink. To confirm by e-mail reply: Press the reply button in your e-mail and type the word OK in the message (body) of the reply. Leave the subject, to and from fields intact. Send the message. To reply (confirm) by web hyperlink: Find the text near the top of the request for confirmation that reads, “To confirm the execution of your command, simply point your browser to the following URL”, followed by a web link. Click on the link to confirm the command. This will bring up your browser window and you should see an acknowledgement that your request has been accepted.
