Prism is a continuance of an annual conference sponsored by the Ball State University Department of Telecommunications and organized by Dr. Maria Williams-Hawkins' Analysis and Criticism in the Media class. The conference is open to the general public and everyone is invited to attend the panel discussions.

The conference focuses on the issues surrounding diversity in all types of media, whether that is television, movies, radio, or print media.  Professionals from a variety of fields are invited to attend the conference and sit on panels relating to different issues in the media.

Prism is being presented in various classrooms of the Ball Communications Building on the campus of Ball State University.  The conference takes place from 9:00am until 3:00pm with sessions starting on the hour.  Lunch will be provided for invited guests at 12:00pm.

Students in the Telecommunications class will present papers on diversity in the media to invited judges for scoring.  After presenting, students will participate on panels with the professionals to further discuss the topics involved in their papers.

Rafael Sanchez, a reporter for Indianapolis' RTV6's 'Call 6 for Help' segment, will give the keynote address during lunch.  He will be speaking on the issues he has faced being a Latino reporter in the media.
