STUDENT PROFILE

Students at Ball State University come in all shapes, sizes, colors and backgrounds. That's what we love about Ball State—the focus on diversity. That means that when you recruit with us, you'll have a lot to choose from!

Though we can't truly give you a picture of a "typical" student (we don't have any!), we can give you some demographic information about the Ball State student body.

Academic Excellence
Through the 140 major and minor areas of study that Ball State offers within its seven colleges, our students are academically prepared for careers in accounting, business, the arts, architecture and landscape architecture, the sciences, communications, education, and more. For a description of each college's offerings and a list of their majors click here, or check out this comprehensive list of majors, minors, and academic programs.

Geographic Preference
As much as 91% of the student body is from Indiana and many of these students want to stay in Indiana to work, so if you're an Indiana employer, this is a great place for you to recruit employees! That still leaves almost 9% of students who are from out of state, and even more who specifically want to work out-of-state, so if you're not an Indiana employer, you can find a great niche market of students looking to relocate.

International Focus
Ball State also has a large international student population. There are almost 500 students on campus from around the globe including Africa, the Arab states, Asia, the Pacific, Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Fifteen percent of these students are undergraduates, and 85% are graduate students. Whether you're seeking to recruit international hires or simply want your new employees to be cosmopolitan in their scope, Ball State delivers with a focus on international diversity.

Ethnic Diversity
Students of color represent almost 7% of Ball State's student body. That's approximately 1,240 students! Backgrounds such as African American, Asian American, Hispanic, Native American, Pacific Islander, and Biracial are all represented in our student body. If you want a diverse workplace, Ball State offers quality graduates from a variety of ethnicities.
