Twenty Years of Service

In 1986, the Career Center began offering comprehensive services to meet the career needs of students. Many things have changed in the past twenty years, but we are still a critical link between students and employers, between college and jobs. The celebration of National Customer Service Week, held October 2-6, and our twentieth anniversary remind us of the importance of our relationship with you, our employers. Thank you for participating in Ball State programs and services that keep you connected to our students in various ways.

Over the years, we have been challenged to keep employers representing a range of opportunities for our students in the Ball State network. To help you be successful, we pay attention to your needs for interns, part-time and seasonal employees, and recent graduates and alumni for professional employment. In other words, we try to offer the services you need to find competent, highly skilled employees. We hope to continue to meet your needs and exceed your expectations for years to come. We will continue to maintain our partnership using electronic connections but will rely on fundamental personal interactions to keep that relationship strong. Please let us know what your current human resource needs are and how we can help you achieve your goals.

Advanced Professionalism Certificate

Employers tell us that it takes more than a business degree to be successful in the world of work. Professionalism, leadership, teamwork, and ethics are just a few of the skills and qualities employers look for in college graduates. To address this need, the Miller College of Business developed the Advanced Professionalism Certificate program to produce graduates with a distinct professional edge.

The program is open to juniors and seniors in the college and requires participants to attend a series of ten programs outside the classroom to earn the certificate. Programs include a distinguished speaker series, which draws upon the expertise of notable business leaders, and such career-focused events as the Professional Etiquette Dinner and Dress for Success programs. So, when you hire a Miller College of Business graduate who has completed the professionalism certificate, you get the total package—a student with solid business expertise from an AACSB- accredited business school coupled with the professional skills needed to succeed. To learn more about the advanced professionalism certificate, visit the Miller College of Business Web site at http://www.bsu.edu/cob/profcert/.
