"Netiquette" Skills Important in Today's World
Learning how to pass the salad dressing, eat with the right fork, or even type a professional memo are all important etiquette skills for the workplace. But with the infiltration of technology into every aspect of professional life, "netiquette" skills are also becoming increasingly important. Learning the proper means of using the Internet to communicate—whether through e-mail or Web-based chat rooms and message boards—is extremely important in today's job market.
The Art of Body Language
According to some reasearchers, as little as 7% of our communication with others actually occurs through the spoken word. Nonverbal communication—facial expresions, body language, or gestures—together account for more than 90% of the rest of our communicative messages. Learning to gauge your own nonverbal cues as well as those you are receiving from others can help make your communication style in the workplace and at home much more meaningful, and it can also help you avoid miscommunication.

The Cover Letter Is Your "Two Cents"—Don't Waste Them!
Your résumé contains strictly the facts—what you've done and when and where you've done it. A well-written cover letter gives you the chance to expound on why the experiences reflected in your résumé make you the most qualified person for the job. Your cover letter is the companion piece to your résumé; it shouldn't be a repeat of your résumé in prose form. Learn how to craft a well-written document that sets you apart from other candidates, and use it to get in your two cents about why you are the person they want to hire! A good cover letter could be the key to getting an interview.
Learn the Skills for Successful Interviews!
Preparing your résumé, cover letter, and portfolio during your job search can take a lot of time, but the actual interview, though sometimes brief, can often be the most nerve-wracking experience of the entire process. Preparing ahead of time by developing problem-action-result (PAR) statements that document your skills is the best way to take the edge off the anxiety of an interview. Learn how to prepare these statements, and also how to use them in your interview.

On the Road Again
Hoosiers spend less time than the national average in their commutes to work, adding up to a time savings of 22 hours a year over working people in most states! That's almost a full day each year that you can use to do whatever else you want besides driving just because you're living and working in Indiana.
