Dear Ball State Business Fellows:

Congratulations and welcome to the Ball State Business Fellows program! We are excited to have you as part of the 2005-2006 class of Business Fellows. You were selected for the unique skills and characteristics that you will bring to your project team and to the entire program. I have enjoyed meeting most of you at the orientation sessions and I hope that your year as a Business Fellow proves to be a rewarding and hands-on learning experience. Please read through this entire letter; it contains important information about upcoming events and your work as a Business Fellow!

If you have already attended an orientation session, you have received information about the Professional Development Seminars and Workshops. These training programs are an important part of your Business Fellows experience. They are designed to prepare you for the workplace by addressing the most important skills and knowledge that employers are looking for in today’s graduates. It is required that you attend these sessions so please mark your calendars accordingly. Dress for most workshops is business casual. The schedule and locations for the sessions is as follows:

Professional Development Seminars

October 8
Creating Effective Teams
Camp Adventure, Muncie, IN
9 a.m. – noon or 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Please attend your team’s assigned session:

  • Morning Session 9 a.m. – noon: Downtown Dinner Theater,  Security Protocol for Minnetrista, Indiana Clean,  On-Special Assignment with the Chronicle Tribune
  • Lunch for all at noon (buffet provided by The Rib Cage)
  • Afternoon Session 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Profiting Non-profits, Fashion Retail Growth, BAA Cluster Computing, Chamber of Commerce Marketing Campaign, The Whale Hunters, Medical Consultants

Please note that dress for Camp Adventure will be casual; see the link to instructions at the end of this letter for details.

Twice a month, you will receive an issue of Fast Lane, the Business Fellows e-mail newsletter. This e-newsletter will provide information about upcoming Business Fellows programs, career-related topics, professional skill development, and more. It is important that you read this newsletter as it will be the primary communication tool for Business Fellows. The first issue will arrive in October.

I look forward to seeing each of you again on Saturday, October 8, for our first Professional Development Workshop, “Creating Effective Teams.” This workshop will be held at Camp Adventure in Muncie.
