Welcome!

Muncie is honored to be the host city for the 2005 Regional Neighborhood Network Conference on September 15th, 16th, and 17th. We are expecting over 500 community leaders and neighborhood activists from Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee to participate in this three-day crash course on neighborhood development. Workshops will be held on issues such as community well being and business development, integrating university and city resources, improving the quality of life of citizens, and capitalizing on diversity and faith based initiatives. In addition to these workshops, attendees will be addressed by three keynote speakers including: Dr. Don Scavella, Executive Director of the United Methodist Union; John Norquist, President and CEO of the Congress for New Urbanism; and JoAnn Gora, President of Ball State University. Participants will also have the opportunity to view the community in action at the Old Washington Street Festival, to tour historic homes in the East Central Neighborhood, or to hear a presentation by the Indiana State Police and Muncie Police about clues on stopping meth labs in your community. This is a wonderful opportunity for Muncie to show visiting communities a “City on the Move” with dynamic economic strategies and countless community treasures.
