| Mayor Peterson Celebrates the Adoption of the Regional Center Plan! | |||||

Plan Management Team as we thank you and all of the stakeholders for your input and support of the Regional Center Plan and celebrate the adoption of the plan amendments by the Metropolitan Development Commission Tuesday, March 16th 8:30 am - 9:30 am Mayor's Remarks - 9 am Indianapolis Artsgarden The Metropolitan Development Commission officially adopted the Regional Center Plan 2020 on March 3, 2004. The final plan reflects two years of urban design workshops, public forums, committee meetings, plan development and the engagement of more than 1,000 community stakeholders. The plan provides an exciting roadmap for Downtown in the next twenty years! The Regional Center Plan 2020 Executive Summary poster will be available. This Executive Summary sets forth the Vision for Downtown, six key priorities and individual committee priorities. The poster also contains a land use map and description of critical areas that will likely see development pressure in the future. The complete plan is available online at http://www.indyrc2020.org. After the meeting you are welcome to stop by the Regional Center Plan Office at 26 West Washington Street for a final goodbye. The office will be closing to make way for the new Conrad Hotel project. Ball State's College of Architecture and Planning Indianapolis Center will be relocating to 22 East Washington Street Suite 210 and will continue to provide a public presence for the Regional Center Plan and promote the discussion of critical issues facing the Indianapolis community. | Final Draft Review Public Meetings | |||||
| Two public meetings have been scheduled to review the
final draft of the Regional Center Plan before it is sent to the
Metropolitan Development Commission for adoption. Meetings held at the Regional Center Plan office at 26 W. Washington Street.

| Cultural Trail Public Workshop 2 | |||||

Indianapolis Artsgarden While not officially a Regional Center project or event, a follow-up public workshop will be held regarding a proposed cultural trail in Downtown. Possible routes will be narrowed down. The trail would be an urban greenway that would link major downtown-area cultural venues and districts as well as the surrounding greenways. The event is free and open to all. |

| Regional Center Community Forum | |||||

During this forum the community will be updated as to the progress of the plan including the goals, objectives, and initiatives developed so far by the six plan committees. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss these draft recommendations as well as to suggest changes or additions. Results from the Community Forum will be integrated into the May committee meetings for discussion. This event is free and open to the public. |

| Regional Center Cultural Tourism Initiative Forum | |||||

Historical Society @ 450 West Ohio Street Join us for the second forum of the Regional Center Plan focusing on the Cultural Tourism Initiative. During this forum, representatives will discuss and ask for input on three major cultural initiatives in Downtown, including the Cultural Districts Initiative, the Public Art Master Plan, and the Cultural Trail project. Regional Center Forums are designed to integrate important and comprehensive initiatives into all 6 of the Regional Center Plan committees. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Indiana Historical Society parking lot accessed from New York Street. |
