CAP:IC Graduate Fellowship Program for Students Back

The primary benefit to graduate students in the CAP:IC Graduate Fellowship program is the ability to gain real-world professional experience while pursuing a graduate education. Fellows become valuable and contributing assets to the employers they work for, develop professional networks useful for later employment, and "incubate" their professional careers.

Schedule
The Fellowship program is flexible.  Students typically begin coursework in the fall semester and work as a fellow part-time during their three semesters of coursework (Fall, Spring, Summer).   Students are expected to maintain a full-time course load.

As students, your fellowship will follow the University academic schedule and you will receive all holidays and breaks scheduled by the University.  While Fellows are encouraged to participate in academic and professional development activities such as conferences, such items are not considered official breaks.  In other words, if you take time off to attend a conference, you are expected to make it up!!

Benefits
CAP:IC Graduate Fellows receive a tuition waiver from Ball State University for three semesters of study (fall, spring, summer).  Fellows also receive a stipend for fall and spring semester that is above the standard on-campus graduate assistantship rate and are offered paid summer employment during the final summer semester.

Costs
While tuition is waived by the University, certain course fees, technology fees, and health fees are not.  Consult the Ball State University Graduate School for complete information.  Students must also secure their own housing and will need transportation arrangements.  The Indianapolis Star is a good place to start when looking for apartments or homes to rent (IndyStar Classifieds), and also provide a good overview of many Indianapolis neighborhoods. IndyGo is the public bus system for Indianapolis.

Requirements
To qualify for consideration as a CAP:IC Graduate Fellow, applicants must posses an accredited undergraduate degree in an environmental design or planning field. Students must also have either a cumulative grade-point average on the baccalaureate of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or a cumulative grade-point average of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the latter half of the baccalaureate. Applicants must also be accepted into the Ball State University Graduate School.  An official transcript and resume are also required.
