This is a picture of my car when I had it out during XMas
break 2002. This used to be
my everyday driver during high school. Lots of fun (fast) times and
good memories with it. I purchased the car from my cousin in 99' for
$500. What a deal, eh? But, it needed some serious work.
The motor (a 305) was beat hard and blown. The passenger's side
window was broke, the seats severely stained from water, and a broken back
hatch. In a matter of 4 months, my dad and I had a fresh 350 bored
.30 over dropped in, and fixed most of the other defects. Over the
years, I modded the car to it's current configuration. And let me
tell you, she was HOT. Not as fast as my dad's car or the SRT, but I beat some
pretty mean cars in the day. I must say that the best race I've ever won was
against a 96-98 (didn't know for sure what year) Trans Am. I was
coming home from work one night, when this teal t/a came racing up on my
rear. I slowed down and motioned for him to pull over. He did,
and we proceeded to run. I told him I wanted to do something
around 1/4 mile (I knew I had no top end), and he agreed. Long story
short, I beat him by about 1/2 a car length!!! She was fast, but needed
some TLC. Since I bought the Avenger shortly after going to college, she may had to
go. BUT, since I got rid of her, I definitely needed another play
car!
UPDATE: After only owning this car for about 4 years,
I decided it was time to combine the performance of the Camaro with the
gas mileage and style of the Avenger. Thus, I've chosen a Dodge
SRT-4 to replace the two.
