Rationale
I chose my paper on globalization from
Political Science 293 as one of my artifacts because, it not only shows
my knowledge of globalization and its effects on the world, but also my
ability to take what I have learned and apply it to society today. To
gain my knowledge of globalization, I listened in class and read
multiple books on the topic like, "Globalization and Culture" by
Jan Nederveen Piesterse. I decided to pair this artifact with Intasc #7
because this paper shows my understanding of the subject matter and my
abiliy to relate it to my community and surroundings, not only as a
learner but as a teacher.
By researching and writing the paper, I
learned the importance of using a variety of sources to get the most
accurate and up to date information possible. This is not only
important for me as a learner but also as a teacher, to ensure that my
students get the most relevent information that applies to their lives.
This artifact taught me the importance of
being knowledgable in my subject matter and being able to make
connections between my life and my student's lives with the content, as
described in Intasc #7. Being a student, I always appreciate and learn
information faster and more easily when it applies to my life. As a
teacher, it is my goal to apply as much of the content as possible to
my student's lives, to ensure they also gain a better understanding of
what is being taught.
