Rationale

I have chosen to use my first lesson plan from SS395 titled: “Structure and Principles” as an artifact because it shows my ability to use the knowledge I have accumulated on the structure and principles of the Constitution of the United States of America and apply it to 12th grade government students at a level that they understand.  I have chosen to pair this lesson with Intasc #7 because this lesson shows that I am able to make it apply to the student’s lives and their community, while meeting the curriculum that needs to be taught.
By creating this lesson plan, I learned that numerous learning styles, activities, and subject matter can be covered and used effectively by keeping goals for student learning and curriculum in mind. Having this new understanding will allow me to create lesson plans in the future that meet my students learning needs, as well as, the school’s curriculum goals, all the while creating a fun and enjoyable learning experience for my students.
Through the content contained in my lesson plan and the positive remarks of my teacher, it is clear that I understand the importance of planning instruction based upon knowledge of the subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals, as listed in Intasc #7. By taking all of these factors and applying them to a lesson plan on the structure and principles of the United States Constitution, I have created a fun and educationally packed learning opportunity.
