Rationale
I have chosen to use my third lesson plan from
SS 350 titled: “Riding Into War” as an artifact because it shows my
ability to plan lessons with multiply learning styles, a wide use of
technology, and a wide use of creativity. This lesson also shows my
knowledge of the Revolutionary War and its influence of the American
colonies, and my ability to apply what I know to students at the eighth
grade level. I have paired this lesson with Intasc #7 because this
artifact shows my knowledge of the subject being taught and my ability
to apply it at a level that my students will understand and appreciate,
while meeting the curriculum that needs to be taught.
Through writing this lesson plan and being
critiqued by my fellow classmates, I gained a greater understanding of
the importance and difficulty of creating lesson plans for my students
based on their differences in learning abilities and learning styles,
all the while, meeting the standards in curriculum set by the school in
which I am teaching. This new understanding has encouraged me to open
my eyes to all the factors, besides being creative and incorporating
fun, that go into an effective and educationally packed lesson plan.
Intasc #7 states that the teacher plans
instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, students, the
community, and curriculum goals. Through the content contained in my
lesson plan and the positive comments of my fellow classmates, it is
clear that I understand the importance of following Intasc #7 and its
relevance to being an effective educator.
