The first successful airplane flight.
On December 13, 1907 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Wilbur and Orville Wright became the first men to take off from level ground in a motor powered aircraft and fly. The Wright Brothers built many of the parts for their airplane in their bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio. They chose the windy climate and soft sand dunes of the Outer Banks, North Carolina to test their ideas about flight. The brothers invention, the Flyer, changed transportation forever!
