Parts List

  • Beverage Holder

  • Aluminum Mounting Bracket

  • Spacers (2)

  • 6mm x 35mm Socket Head Screw

  • Snap Fasteners (4) - Not Shown

  • Vinyl Pad - Not Shown

The bracket comes attached to the beverage holder. I removed it because is was brushed aluminum. I ordered a Black Chrome Holder and would have thought that the mounting plate would match. I painted both the mounting plate and the heads of the screws. I also removed the four snap fasteners and replaced them with Bell Automotive Products, Inc Model No 00459 Nylon License Fasteners purchased at Walmart. $0.96 for a package of 4.

  1. Place the motorcycle on the center stand with the handlebars straight.

  2. Remove the black cover over the mounting bolts for the clutch assembly. You may not have a cover, mine fell off not too long after I had it. If you do have a cover, you can just pull it out with your finger nails.

  3. Place a mark on the fixed member to the right of the clutch lever bracket. This will allow you to relocate the clutch bracket to its original position.

  4. Remove the original bolts (5mm Allen Wrench) and replace with the 6mm x 35 mm bolts and spacers. Note: the spacers go between the back of the mounting bracket and the clutch bracket. Align the clutch assembly with the guide mark that you made. Tighten lightly. The bolts will be removed. The clutch bracket is not reversible. If the joint is not an even height, you may have turned the bracket upside down.

  5. Using a slight sideways movement, position and level (this is an overstatement, just locate it so that it looks right) the holder. It should not be tilted from side to side.

  6. Three (3) 1/4" holes have been pre-drilled in the back portion of the the holder. After the holder is positioned to your satisfaction, using the 3 holes as a guide mark the mark mounting plate.

  7. Remove the screws and spacers and drill 1/4" holes where marked on the mounting plate. Install the 3 supplied snap fasteners or if you prefer, the license plate fasteners. If you install the license plate fasteners trim them level with the nut as seen below.

  8. Use spray adhesive or contact cement to install the vinyl pad to the holder.

  1. Install the assembly as described in Step 4 above. Do not over tighten.

Passenger

I did not take pictures prior to installation. The bracket is pre-attached to the holder. You also receive a long Philips head screw,  two 2-piece Anchor Rivets and a vinyl pad..

  1. Place motorcycle on center stand.

  2. Remove the outer rear Phillips Screw from the deep welled hole from the underside bottom half of the right rear speaker housing. This screw is hard to find but it it there.

  3. Place the supplied long metal Phillips head sheet metal screw through the smaller of the 3 predrilled holes in the upper half of the the aluminum backing plate from the bottom side. Place the beverage holder underneath the speaker housing, inserting the long sheet metal screw to the upper speaker housing top. This is a tough hit. You are trying to hold the beverage holder and get the screw in a very small hole very far away. Do not over tighten as excessive torque may strip or damage the plastic housing.

  4. From the underside of the aluminum bracket, using the two 1/4" predrilled holes as a guide, drill two 1/4" holes upward through the bottom of the speaker housing (do not angle, this is easier said that done. There was insufficient room for my drill so I had to angle slightly. The chuck also rubbed a spot into the side cover. I would you a thin piece of metal to cover the side cover before drilling). Use caution, do not let the drill bit make contact with the enclosed speaker. (You are drilling a blind hole. I have no idea how you avoid the speaker other than going slow and stopping a soon as you feel the hole break through).

  5. Insert the two piece Anchor Rivet through the aluminum bracket hole and then into the underside of the speaker housing until it is up against the Anchor Rivet head. The manufacturers says, "Tap the steel threaded drive pin all the way until it is seated flush with the Anchor Rivet head." There is no way you want to beating this thing with a hammer. The drive pin has a slot. Just use a small screwdriver to tighten until it is seated against the anchor head.  Repeat for the other Anchor pin.

  6. Use spray adhesive or contact cement on the vinyl pad to apply it to the holder.
